Dr. Waitman Beorn is an Associate Professor of History at Northumbria University in the United Kingdom. He was previously the Director of the Virginia Holocaust Museum in Richmond and the inaugural Blumkin Professor of Holocaust and Genocide Studies at the University of Nebraska-Omaha in the United States. He received his PhD in History from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. 

He is the author of the award-winning book, Marching Into Darkness: The Wehrmacht and the Holocaust in Belarus (Harvard University Press, 2014), as well as of The Holocaust in Eastern Europe: At the Epicenter of the Final Solution (Bloomsbury Press, 2018), and Between the Wires: The Janowska Camp and the Holocaust in Lviv (University of Nebraska Press, 2024). He has been awarded the National Endowment for the Humanities, Fulbright Foundation, and Harry Frank Guggenheim Foundation fellowships. He is the Scholar-in-Residence for the Auschwitz Jewish Center’s American Service Academies Program.
