AREAS OF STUDY:

Chiara Renzo holds a PhD in Contemporary History (University of Florence, 2017) with a background in North African and Middle Eastern studies. Her research focuses on Jewish Displaced Persons in Italy (1943–1951), a topic she explored through extensive archival work in Italy, Israel, the UK, France, the US, and Australia, supported by the Saul Kagan Fellowships during the 2016–17 academic year. Her work has resulted in publications in Italian and English, including Jewish Displaced Persons in Italy 1943–1951: Politics, Rehabilitation, Identity (Routledge, 2024). She has held postdoctoral fellowships at the University of Venice, the University of Florence, and Yad Vashem and has taught at the University of Florence. Currently, she is a project manager and researcher at the CDEC Foundation in Milan, leading “TRAME – Tracing Routes and Memories: Entangled Jewish Experiences across the Mediterranean”, a digital humanities project investigating Jewish migration from North Africa and the Middle East to Italy (1940s–1980s).
